The progression of creation. What does it mean that God is the Creator?

Isaiah 40:28 (ESV)

28 Have you not known? Have you not heard?

The Lord is the everlasting God,

the Creator of the ends of the earth.

He does not faint or grow weary;

his understanding is unsearchable.

Genesis 1:2 (ESV)

2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

Acts 17:24 (ESV)

24 The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man,

Hebrews 1:2 (ESV)

2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.

When we say that God is the Creator, we mean that He is truly creative, in a category all by Himself, because He started with nothing. (Ex nihilo is Latin for “from nothing.” The term creation ex nihilo refers to God creating everything from nothing. In the beginning,)

Colossians 1:16 (ESV)

16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.
